Below you’ll find a list of all open positions on our LOG team, and a general description of each job! As well as instructions to apply are at the bottom. Each position comes with a semester stipend.

Fall 2023 LOG Yearbook team photo

Staff DEsigner

- Responsible for designing spreads and templates as assigned by Design Editor

- Designs 11-12 spreads per semester

- Collaborates with Design Editor to establish style guide and master book file

- Checks for design consistency during pre-submission deadline sessions

- Makes edits or completes redesign to work after the Copy Editor and Advisor have made revisions and suggestions

Preferred: basic knowledge of graphic design software, including Creative Suite

 

Staff Writer

- Covers 11-15 stories per semester for the yearbook, either submitting complete stories or gathering information and interviews for alternative story formats

- Writes all captions for photos featured in assigned pages

- Regularly contacts sources for stories, conducts in person interviews, attends events, and produces content that is fair and accurate

- Supplies correctly-spelled names and year in school for subjects covered in each story submitted

- Follows a standard style for writing as determined by the Copy Editor and Faculty Advisor

- Makes edits or completes rewrites to work after the Copy Editor has made editing marks and suggestions

Required: proficiency in grammar, punctuation, spelling, etc.

Staff Photographer

- Responsible for taking high-quality photos as assigned by Photographer Editor (provide digital format only)

- Contributes to covering 11-12 events/stories per semester

- Supplies correctly spelled names and graduation year of each portrait and provides description of the action/event for each photo submitted

- Digitally manages and organizes photos in computer file system and uploads photos to shared gallery

- Takes initiative to take photos not specifically assigned

- Re-takes photos when asked to do so

- Uploads final, edited photos within 2 weeks after the event/story has occurred

Required: basic knowledge of DSLR cameras and photo editing programs (Lightroom or Photoshop)

Business and Marketing Manger

- Work closely with LOG staff and advisor to coordinate marketing and core events (Activities Fair, Book Distribution, Club and Senior photos, and Family Weekend Outreach)

- Manage all details of senior tribute in-book advertising initiatives, from direct mail advertising to parents to layout ads in book to writing thank you notes to patrons

- Develop creative marketing materials and promotional activities to engage a variety of UP students in the LOG yearbook

- Execute online yearbook ordering and shipment process

Preferred: Self-motivated and can work independently, without direction, as well as timely and professional communication with students and staff
